Dr Matthieu Chillaud joined the University of Tartu upon receiving his PhD in political science from the Université de Bordeaux, where his doctoral dissertation focused on the Baltic States and European defense. In addition to his work on the strategic balance in Northern Europe, he is currently examining the history of French strategic military thought since 1958 and has published several articles on the topic in both
English and French.
His previous experience includes strategic analyses for the Directorate of Strategic Affairs (Délégation aux affaires stratégiques) in the French Ministry of Defense.
