Commandant Peter Vanderostyne graduated from the Royal Military Academy Brussels in 1992 with a Master in Military and Aeronautical Science. In the same year, he joined the Control & Reporting Centre (CRC) in Glons where he became Fighter Controller, Electronic Warfare specialist, Identification Officer and Track Production Officer. After he assumed the function of Ops Officer at the CRC, he continued his professional path in Weapons at NAEW&CF Geilenkirchen in 1999, where he certified as Weapons Instructor and Fighter Allocator. The gained expertise as a Battle Manager on board of AWACS was welcomed at the CRC in 2004 and allowed him to transfer knowledge as Training Officer whilst optimising Battle Management at the Unit. A successful unit evaluation led to the certification of Master Controller. In 2007 he was assigned to CAOC UEDEM (UE). During his tenure in CAOC UE he certified as Air Surveillance Officer, Fighter Coordinator, Senior Director, ASACS evaluator, Airspace Manager, Command and Control Duty Officer, Subject Matter Expert (SME) Air Operations Planning (Offensive and Defensive) in Combat Plans Division, SME E&T at the Training & Exercise Division. He was selected twice as Military Advisor to COM CAOC UE in two Belgian rotations. After the Change of Command Oct 2024 he joined JAPCC as Air Operation Planner.

He participated in several Operations: Operation Deliberate Guard/Joint Falcon (Balkans) where he worked as Senior Director at the US 603rd/606th AOC in Vieste (ITA) whilst ensuring the daily Air to Air refuelling Operations over the Adriatic Sea; he trained the initial Baltic Battle Management team Fighter Allocators during Baltic Air Policing in CRC Galaxy; he participated in the first NATO Art 5 Operation in US Airspace named Operation Eagle Assist; he obtained the US Unit Meritorious Award signed by President George W Bush; as Command and Control Duty Officer participated in non-Art 5 Operation Unified Protector where he voiced the engagement orders and coordinated armed UAV and Fighter assets in realm of Time Sensitive Targeting (TST) and Dynamic Targeting (DT). He participated twice in Afghanistan (ISAF); one time as Airspace Manager /Planner and played a critical role as Frequency Manager in improving the service provided by the Tactical Frequency Management Centre to the five Regional Commands and the CAOC in Al Udeid.
